People such as Eugene Galekovic, matt McKay, Aaron Moody and Tarek Elrich will not be available for section for their upcoming match in the first round of the Hyndai ALeague in a few days time. They are away training with the Socceroos, awaiting their world cup qualifier against Jordan. But for Tarek Elrich this is just a small sacrifice made in his club career to continue fighting for his goal to represent Australia a a world cup.
"Hopefully I can tick off a dream of playing in a world cup," said Elrich. He also said that three years ago h would never have considered being able to play for a world cup side, but now says that the dream is well within his reach. Even thinking about being of the plane to Russia in twenty eighteen, he would have deemed an obscure fantasy.
As one of the three main signings for the new ALeague club the Western Sydney Wanderers. Elrich being an ex newcastle jets boy struggled to get himself into Youssouf Hersi's starting lineup.
Released at the end of the last ALeague season, Elrich was on the lookout to pick up a signing with another club. He was picked up by new Adelaide coach Joeseph Gombau.
Elrich claims that Joeseph gave him a lot of confidence. he was able to pick up things in Elrich's game that other ALeague coaches were oblivious to.
While at his new club Elrich said that he has been feeling the pressure to play, "In the past i was told to keep it simple, whereas now I'm running with the ball and trying to create things for the team."
"In the past I always had the fear that I would be dropped for the next game," but with Joeseph I have been allowed to make mistakes and improve myself as a general all round player.
After two amazing ALeague season playing in various places across the back line Elrich has been boosted into playing contention. Even though it took him until he was twenty eight to make his international debut.
Elich was a truly spectacular player in the Hyndai ALeague. So please feel free to watch his highlight below.
